There’s a New Church in Town | Tim Sheets
A Call to Stand Firm in Faith and Freedom
There is a powerful scene from the movie Braveheart, starring Mel Gibson as William Wallace, that has resonated deeply among the apostles I walk with. Over the past four years, they have frequently shared quotes from this scene, especially during moments of national concern. Words like “Will you fight?”, “They’ll never take our freedom!”, or simply “Freedom!” would appear in our conversations, reminding us of the deeper meaning behind them.
In this iconic moment, William Wallace rides on horseback before his Scottish troops, delivering a rallying cry:
“I am William Wallace! And I see a whole army of my countrymen here in defiance of tyranny. You have come to fight as free men, and free men you are! But what will you do without freedom? Will you fight?”
“Fight, and you may die. Run, and you’ll live—at least for a while. But dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance—just one chance—to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom!”
This powerful speech resonates now more than ever as we step into a new era—a supernatural church age. We are witnessing a season of great miracles, signs, wonders, and an abundant harvest for God’s kingdom. However, this is also a time of spiritual warfare. Just as generations before us have fought to claim their God-given inheritance, we too must rise to the battle before us.
