This was the purpose. He came for this moment. Not by accident, not by force, but by love. The nails, the thorns, the jeers of the crowd, the crushing weight of sin upon his shoulders. This was no tragedy of chance. It was the plan before time began. His body was to be broken, offered as the lamb of God. A sacrifice to redeem the lost.
But before the hammer struck the nails. Before Pilot’s verdict, Arch Caiaphas’s accusations. Before the sleepless night in the garden’s shadow. Before his first steps through a dusty Galilean street. Before the blind saw. Where the lame walked, the hungry were fed, and the temple was cleansed. Before all of it, there was this night.
When eternity took a breath, when the infinite was wrapped in swaddling claws, when heaven itself was cradled in the trembling arms of a young mother. The rescue began here. Not with a crown, not in the halls of power, but in the poverty of a stable. Not with a display of might, but with the gift of grace. Glory to God in the highest.
Peace and goodwill toward men. >> Well, listen. We’ve been looking for those of you who’ve not been with us. We’ve been looking at this series that we’ve titled why. And it’s not why as a question. It’s actually why being the answer. MEANING THAT REGARDING ALL THESE CLAIMS and things about Christmas, why this and why that? And we have used the word why to answer.
Meaning why is there a Christmas? This is the reason. Why? Why? Why did there have to be a Bethlehem? Or why did there have to be a king? Or why did there have to be a magiite? Here’s the reason why. And so for us as believers, and we feel very strongly about what I’m about to say. We may not be the sharpest uh tool in the shed or the brightest bulb on on the rack or whatever, but we do have access to the greatest absolute most powerful revelation of truth ever known to man.
And that is the Bible. The Bible is, listen, the Bible doesn’t contain the word of God. The Bible is the word of God. And I love how the Bible in all of its stalwart strength just stands there over the millennia of time uh announcing truth. And I love it. Best for us to acquies to the truth than for us to tamper with it.
