The Power Of Simple Prayer (Full Sermon)
Discover how the finished work of Jesus Christ has redefined the relationship between humanity and God, providing bold access to the divine presence, guaranteed eternal redemption, and the foundation for experiencing divine health and transformation. The sources emphasize that through the New Covenant, believers operate under a system of grace, not self-effort or religious performance.
The New and Living Way: Boldness to Enter God’s Presence
The central provision of the New Covenant is the assurance of direct, fearless access to the Holiest of All, where God’s presence resides.
The Veil Is Torn
Historically, the Old Testament Tabernacle was divided into the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies. Only the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies once a year, and never without blood. This separation indicated that the way into God’s presence was not yet made manifest.
However, when Jesus died, the veil separating the two parts of the Temple was torn from top to bottom. This was a divine act, signifying that God Himself tore the veil and desires no separation between Himself and His people.
- The veil is symbolized by the flesh of Jesus.
- The same blood of Jesus that tore the veil also removes your sins.
- Today, we have boldness to enter the holiest by the blood of Jesus.
- The proper way to approach God is to come boldly. Coming meekly or focusing on personal flaws risks exhibiting self-righteousness instead of honoring the blood of Christ.
This access is referred to as a New and Living Way. This contrasts sharply with the Old Covenant, which was considered an “old and dying way,” marked by great trepidation and meticulous observance, necessitating rituals like tying a rope to the High Priest for retrieval in case he sinned.
The Power of the Living Way
Coming to God in this new spirit of sonship and forgiveness is inherently vitalizing. The Old Way was dying, but the New Way is living. The more you come to God, the more you live. This interaction is profitable for all things, having the promise of the life that now is, as well as the life to come.
- Disease and sickness are viewed as an absence of life in a limb or function.
- The remedy is to come to God in the spirit of the New Covenant to receive more life.
- Even when frustrated by circumstances, talking to God means you are in the living way and are appealing to someone who can do something about the situation.
Righteousness, Forgiveness, and Moral Excellence
The core message of the Gospel is that God accepts sinful man righteously through the actions of Christ, not human performance.
The Problem of Self-Righteousness
Man has a propensity to boast and seek credit. The essence of all evil is self-righteousness. Self-righteousness stems from refusing the Tree of Life and seeking to earn one’s own righteousness by knowing and shunning evil (the Tree of Knowledge). This attempt to achieve righteousness without God is what activates all kinds of sin, including adultery, murder, and covetousness.
God’s Righteous Acceptance
For God to accept sinful man, He must do so righteously. He achieved this through Christ: Jesus, who knew no sin, became sin on the cross so that believers, who knew no righteousness, could become the righteousness of God in Christ.
- God punished our sins in the body of Jesus; therefore, for God to punish us again for those sins would be unrighteous.
- We have eternal redemption, defined as being released from the penalty of sin.
- God’s holiness is now on your side, demanding your acquittal, your forgiveness, and your wholeness. This concept mirrors the Passover: when God saw the blood, justice demanded He pass over, as judgment had already been served.
Grace Produces Morality
The goal is not morality first, but the understanding that Grace produces morality. Morality is a fruit, not the root. When believers truly believe they are forgiven and continually count on their forgiveness (the New Covenant), they will manifest Godly qualities and moral excellence.
The history of Martin Luther is used to illustrate this: he was deeply burdened by sin despite striving for righteousness. His life changed and Revival broke out when he realized he must believe in the forgiveness of his sins.
Divine Health and God’s Intentional Will
The sources affirm that God wants you well and that healing is a standard of the New Covenant, secured by Christ’s sacrifice.
The Standard of Healing
Pastors and churches should not be penalized for preaching the standard and ideal that Jesus heals. We should aim for the fullness of God’s provision, recognizing that even if we fall short, we aim for the maximum blessing.
- The Word confirms that Christ bore our sicknesses and carried our pains, and with His stripes we are healed.
- God’s desire for our wellness is comparable to how a natural father desires his child’s health, sparing no expense or effort to ensure a child gets well.
- The ultimate healing is going to be with Jesus, but believers are currently seeking Christ’s return, not focusing on the grave.
When healing does not manifest, the sources acknowledge that we may not always have the answers, just as we don’t know why some who hear the Gospel are not saved. Nonetheless, the truth remains: God wants you well.
The Timeless Dimension of God’s Power
God created time, and therefore the cross is outside time. This eternal dimension explains why sermons, prayers, and healing scriptures posted years ago can still result in healing today.
- In the spiritual dimension, there is no time and no distance.
- Spending time in God’s presence makes us aware that in Heaven, no one is old or decays, and the presence itself is timeless.
