The Jacob Blessing & How to Find the Blessing of Your Life
Even if you never got the blessing of your father or you never got it right, even if you never knew your father, even if you were cursed, in the end, now that you are born again, the blessings of your father come directly from God your father. So he went into his father and said, “I my father.
” He said, “Hen, here I am. Who are you my son?” Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau, your firstborn.” So Jacob went near to Isaac, his father. Isaac felt him. “The voice is Jacob’s voice,” he said, “but the hands are the hands of Esau.” And Jacob again insisted, “I am Esau.” And goes on verse 23, he did not recognize him because his hands were hairy like his brother Esau’s hands. So he blessed him.
the blessing of Jacob by deception from his father. There is a war on fatherhood in our culture. Fathers are mocked, ridiculed, villainized, depicted in the media, in entertainment as either bumbling fools, overgrown children, tyrants, or dangerous. There’s a reason for that. There’s a spirit in our culture to turn over authorities.
If you take away the father from the family, the family is vulnerable. It started with the fathers, but it’s spreading now to motherhood. Motherhood is being erased as well. But in the Bible, the father was the one to give the blessing. Jacob gave the blessing to his sons. Jacob’s father, Isaac, right here, gave the blessing to Jacob.
Isaac was undoubtedly blessed by his father named Abraham, Abraham the father. The blessing of the father was a sacred act. The father’s ministry was to bless. The culture may try to minimize the importance of fatherhood, but you can’t do that. It’s like trying to fight the law of gravity. In Colossians, it says, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger that they be not discouraged.
