The Foundation of Fifty-Five Years of Ministry (Selected Scriptures)

• Today on Grace to You. I’m not interested in being a president or I’m not interested in politics and I don’t want to get distracted by things that go wrong in the world. I just want to be a part of what the Lord is doing. I just want to live in the full richness of that. The church is the kingdom of God on earth.
• What in the world makes us so embarrassed about the gospel? I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. [Music] Obviously, no one would anticipate going into ministry and ending up there for 55 years. Um, as you heard, that’s very rare. The average pastoral length is four years across this country. And that means there are a lot that never lasts four years to make that the average.
• So it’s a very unusual thing to find a people who are that patient with one human being that they would allow over half a century of of ministry to be shared together. So I understand the privilege. I understand the joy. I understand the purposes that God had in unfolding the ministry here over these 55 years.
