Revelation, The Seven Lampstands, & The Secrets Of Victory
Many churches have left him being the middle. They exist as empty houses, empty lampstands, lamps with no light coming out. It’s easy to lose him. You can even lose him in the lampstand if you focus on the lampstand instead of him. [Music] Now, we open up another part of the vision. Seems like a little thing.
You go right past it. Yet, yet is it filled with meaning. Verse 10. I was in the spirit of the Lord’s day and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet saying, “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches to Ephesus, Smeirna, Pergamum, Thotira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laosa.
” Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And when I turned, I saw seven golden lampstands. Here’s a voice saying, “Write it down what you’re about to see. Send it to the seven churches.” Turns around it says, “I saw seven lampstands.” Seven golden lampstands. Is that significant? First time the number seven here in the book of revelation except for the churches it’s going to saturate the entire book.
Seven lampstands, seven seals, seven eyes, seven bowls, seven angels, seven trumpets and a seven heads. Seven is the number of completion. Seven days of creation, seven days of the week. So the book of Revelation is the book of completing everything. So that’s why it’s filled with sevens. This is the very first vision of the book and the very first vision begins with seven lampstands.
So note first thing in the book of revelation is about light. Lamps light. Think about it. The first element in the Bible itself that God created was light. Genesis begins with let there be light. First book of the Bible. And so now the last book of the Bible begins with seven lights. Seven lights.
The Bible begins and ends with light. And the book of Revelation itself begins and ends with light. The first chapter lampstands light. Last chapter. And there will no longer be any night. They will have no need of the light of a lamp, not the light of the sun, because the Lord God will light them up and they will reign forever and ever.
The same word for lamp here in the last chapter is the same as in the first chapter. Basically, it says first it starts out with lamps. At the end, it says we don’t need any more lamps because God has become our light. So, the very first chapter of the Bible, God says, “Let there be light.” very last chapter of the Bible.
