Why You Should Speak In Tongues

• You’re watching KCMI TV. Well, thank you for joining me today. And um I thought maybe I’d just explain why we’re going to do this podcast cuz I want to I want to talk about on why you should speak in tongues and not from a doctrinal standpoint of do you have to speak in tongues to go to heaven and all that. I do not believe you have to.
• This is from a whole different standpoint. But um um and this has happened to me different times in my life. Sometimes it’s lasted months. Um, it started about maybe 3 weeks ago and I went to prayer and uh have lots of things I need to talk to God about and when I open my mouth to pray um my prayer language it came forth and so I’m still in that vein.
• And so my entire prayer time uh generally I try to set an hour a day aside to pray. And my entire prayer time has uh been in in my prayer language and speaking in tongues. And uh when it first happened, I was just I was a little frustrated because I felt like God, I’ve got so many pressing things with the church and and other issues that I need to talk to you about.
• And um and God be to drop uh some scriptures in my spirit to give me understanding. And so I thought we would start out of the book of Romans, chapter 26. Um it says likewise the spirit was talking about the Holy Ghost. Now also helpeth our infirmities and the the word help helpethth here just simply means the Holy Ghost comes alongside of us to help.
• And then it says the Holy Ghost, he’s coming alongside of us uh to to help our infirmities. And so the word infirmities here means uh it can mean uh weakness um can be you know weakness spiritually, weakness physically. It also means uh diseases and it and it can mean sickness. So you have the Holy Spirit coming alongside of us to help us in times that we’re pressed beyond our own strength.
• And then it says, “For we know not what we should pray as we ought.” Or the word ought could be translated should. So he’s saying that because of these pressing issues on us, the Holy Spirit comes alongside you and I to help us because we don’t know how we should pray. It’s, you know, we get overwhelmed by things and we come to the Lord and we, you know, you just stand there and you think, Lord, I don’t even know how to address this issue says, but the spirit, the Holy Ghost when he, he doesn’t just come alongside of us to hold our hand.
