Sacrifice Is Never Convenient

  • You’re watching [music] KCMI TV. >> Well, thank you for joining me and uh I want to talk uh on a subject in the scriptures probably that really none of us like and I want to talk to you about sacrifice but perhaps from a different uh perspective. And um one of the things I’ve learned over the years, and I know that many of you have, that God did not design you and I serving him for it to be convenient.
  • Um it’s going to be an inconvenience. That’s what sacrifice is. It’s it’s giving something to God that you like, that’s that’s valuable to you. And I’m thinking in the Old Testament um David had decided he wanted to number Israel and uh it wasn’t the will of God and it made God upset that he was angry and he came to David and he said I’m going to judge you and um the scripture says that uh David said I would rather fall into the hands of the Lord than men.
  • And so the scripture says that God sent a plague amongst the children of Israel and killed 70,000 of them. And David began to intercede before the Lord and said, “God, please stop this. It’s not their fault. It’s mine.” And so, um, he decided to make a sacrifice unto the Lord. And he he went and he purchased the the threshold.
  • Um, and when the owner of it heard what David wanted, he said, “I’m just going to give it to you.” And David said, “No.” He said, “I will not offer to God that which cost me nothing.” And so I want to talk about that because um we have a tendency to as human beings to to offer things to the Lord that are really not a sacrifice to us.
  • And and and sacrifice itself just simply means that you’re giving up something that’s valuable to you that [clears throat] you could really use for yourself and you’re giving it up. And so in in the Old Testament, we know this under under Moses’s um ministry, uh the sacrificial system came into existence and they offered literally millions of animals uh to the Lord.
