Pastor Kent Christmas | False Witnesses and Accusers
-
You’re watching KCMI TV. >> Well, I’m glad you join me and uh sitting in your house drinking cup of coffee or in your car or whatever. if you can grab your Bible and uh let’s go to the book of Deuteronomy uh chapter 19 and then we’re going to swing over to the book of Proverbs and we’re going to read out of Proverbs chapter 6 and then we’ll um go from there and what we want to talk about.
-
This is in Deuteronomy uh chapter 19 starting with verse 16. If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong. Then both of the men between whom the controversy is shall stand before the Lord before the priests and the judges which shall be in those days. And the judges shall make a diligent inquisition.
-
And behold, if the witness be a false witness, and has testified falsely or wrongly against his brother, then you shall do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother. So shalt thou put the evil away from among you, and those which remain shall hear and fear, and shall not henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.
-
And this is a familiar verse. and thine nine shall not have pity, but life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, and foot for foot. And then let’s go over to the book of Proverbs and out of chapter 6, verse 16 says, “These six things do the Lord. Hey, yay. Seven are an abomination unto him.
-
And abomination is about as bad as you can get. He says number one is a proud look and then a lying tongue and then hands that shed innocent blood. A heart that devises wicked imaginations. feet that are swift in running to mischief. And then this one 19 verse 19, a false witness that speaketh lies and he that sweth discord among the brethren.
-
So I want to talk to you today about a false witness. um a false witness that against God. Um then a false witness that the devil would bring and then a false witness that you and I would bring. And when I read these verses, obviously God um is very serious about this. And when you read in Proverbs chapter 6, you say, “Well, pastor, this is that’s Old Testament stuff.
-
” But when something is an abomination to God, it doesn’t change from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Now, there are sometimes God will change the way that he judges, but with a false witness, God hates it. And a false witness is just simply someone who lies about somebody else, says something that he should not say.
