LIFT Daily Prayer: Day 137
-
or I was not talking to but I had the honor of being on Sean Hannity’s radio program yesterday and it was hosted by u a friend of mine Rose Tenant and Sean Hanned’s been traveling with Trump um throughout the Middle East and so she was sitting in on his radio program and um she said uh you know she reminded me that the New York Times time for this prayer together daily. It’s 8:00 a.m.
-
and I and I just thought that’s great for you guys on the East Coast. 8:00 a.m. uh 7 a.m. for us. I’ve got a I’ve got a trip coming up and I have to figure this out. I’ll be in um I’ll be a little bit in Canada for just hours and uh in also Alaska. And so, um, I’ll let you know more about that as it gets closer, but, uh, I just got a a portable Starlink device that is supposed to help me connect with you, um, while I’m up in those remote areas.
-
And I’m going to ask the Lord to make it work so we can keep that going. But um anyway, it’s uh yeah, hopefully that all works out. Here we go everybody. This is a strong good strong strong exhortation this morning. And uh it’s Matthew chapter 7 13-14. Listen to these words. Enter by the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction.
-
And there are many who go in by it because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it. Look, I need to I need to get to the point and I need to with you pray this two verses but I we could give a sermon right now on this passage. Jesus is speaking. Jesus is warning us, enter by the narrow gate.
-
Narrow. Listen, things that are narrow are difficult. Period. If it’s a narrow waterway, it’s difficult because water will back up and you could have flooding. It’s narrow’s difficult. If it’s a narrow lane, right, you have to squeeze through and make sure you don’t tear the mirrors off the side of your vehicle.
-
If it’s a narrow way, you got to pay attention. Just something being narrow demands extra care. Jesus says, “Enter by the narrow gate.” Why? Because the gospel and the salvation through him and him alone plus no works like the thief on the cross, it’s narrow. It’s difficult. But listen to this. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction.
-
Wide gates, broad ways are easy. Not a problem, not difficult at all. And he says it leads to destruction, not life, but death. And he says many are on that path. Wow. Think of it. He says, “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it before we pray it.” It is this.
-
The true walk with the believer in Christ in the hands of Jesus means that he’s not going to pamper our lives here in this world. He’s not going to try to make it as much as heaven as you can possibly have here on earth. Seemingly from scripture, it’s the opposite of that. Everybody, if we’re going to walk with him in this world, this is going to be the closest closest thing that we do to getting near anything resembling hell.
