How Your Perspective Shapes Your Promised Land

I am so glad that you’ve joined me today. I’m believing that God’s going to speak to you through his word and that you are going to be equipped and empowered to fulfill your God-given purpose. Now, we’re going to dive into Numbers chapter 13 in just a moment. But just before we start, I wanted to give you some context for this.

In this chapter, the children of Israel are in Cadesh Bara and they’re on the edge of the promised land. Now, they’ve been slaves in Egypt for 430 years and God miraculously delivered them out of Egypt. So at the point we’re going to pick up the text, they were two years into their journey towards Canaan, which was the land that God had promised them.

It was the land flowing with milk and honey. So in those two years, the children of Israel, they they had seen signs and wonders and miracles while they were in the wilderness. They had seen the tangible evidence of God’s faithfulness to them, his love for them, and and his care for them. Now, you would think at this point if God had done so many amazing things for you that the children of Israel would have had the faith to believe that God could actually do whatever he wanted to do.

But we’re about to discover from this text that things are not always as they seem. So, let’s dive in together to Numbers chapter 13. This is the word of the Lord. The Lord spoke to Moses, “Send men to scout out the land of Canaan I am giving to the Israelites. Send one man who is a leader among them from each of their ancestral tribes.

” Moses sent them from the wilderness of Pan at the Lord’s command. All the men were leaders in Israel. These were their names. Shima son of Zakura from the tribe of Reuben. Sheath son of Horry from the tribe of Simeon. Caleb son of Jeban from the tribe of Judah. Eigel son of Joseph from the tribe of Issacha.

Hosa son of Nun from the tribe of Ephraim. Pouty son of Rafu from the tribe of Benjamin. Gadiel son of Sodi from the tribe of Zebulun. Gaddy son of Susi from the tribe of Manessa from the tribe of Joseph. Amile son of Galiel from the tribe of Dan. Seth son of Michael from the tribe of Asher.
