Craig Groeschel – Living With Doubts
Embracing Doubts: A Conversation with Pastor Craig
It’s okay to ask questions and express your doubts—God welcomes them. When you read the Psalms, you can see that even David questioned God in his darkest moments, asking, “Where are You? Why is this happening?” This shows that doubt is a natural part of faith, and you have permission to question God.
In this final episode of our mini-series, we’ll continue our conversation with Pastor Craig, who shares valuable insights on how doubts can strengthen our faith.
Episode Recap
In episode one, Pastor Craig talked about how doubts are not only natural but beneficial to our spiritual journey. Doubt can help us grow in our faith, leading to deeper conversations with God.
In week two, we heard from someone who faced a crisis of faith but emerged stronger, showing that even the biggest questions don’t disqualify you from God’s love.
Then, in week three, we explored practical tools to process and understand doubts in a healthy way.
And today, we’ll discuss how to move forward in faith, even in the midst of doubt.
A Conversation with Pastor Craig
Pastor Craig, welcome back to the You’ve Heard It Said podcast!
It’s great to be back, Alli. Thank you!
You’ve been following Jesus for almost 30 years now and have led Life Church for a long time. What’s kept you close to Jesus through all the difficult seasons and doubts?
In my journey, even during my greatest doubts, I’ve never thought it would be easier to walk away from my faith. One of the things that has kept me grounded is remembering my personal salvation story. I once was spiritually dead, but God brought me to life. That moment remains the most real experience in my life.
When I doubt, I always go to God. It’s sad when people get hurt by the church and walk away, but I understand it. I’ve been hurt by the church too, but I remind myself that the hurt came from individuals, not the entire church. We all make mistakes, but that doesn’t mean we should distance ourselves from God or His people.
It’s important to remember that healing doesn’t happen in isolation. Even when you feel hurt or angry, especially toward the church, you shouldn’t walk away from God. Instead, take a step back, pray, and allow time for healing. You may need to take a break, but always return to God.
So, with your new book and this series, will you ever doubt again?
Pastor Craig’s message encourages us to confront our doubts with faith, engage in community, and continue pressing forward with God, even when it’s tough. Doubt is part of the journey, but it doesn’t have to lead us away from God—it can bring us closer.
