Why Future Predicting With So-Called Secret Biblical Prophecy Is Fruitless | Derek Prince

Understanding prophecy can be challenging, and I believe the root of the problem lies in a verse from Deuteronomy 29:29. Moses tells Israel, “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this Law.” (Deuteronomy 29:29)

This verse highlights that there are two types of things in the Word of God: the secret things, known only to God, and the revealed things, which are given to us so that we can act upon them—not merely theorize or impress others with our knowledge of what will happen next, but to align our lives with God’s will.

The main issue I see with many interpreters of prophecy is that they focus on the secret things while neglecting the revealed things. For example, when I speak on prophecy, someone will inevitably ask, “Pre, mid, or post?” referring to the timing of the rapture—will it occur before, during, or after the tribulation? My answer is always the same: “I don’t know.” I believe that the timing of the rapture is one of the secret things, and God has not fully revealed it because, as a battle strategist, He will not disclose His plans to His enemies.
