Why Are You Alive
-
Why are you alive? That’s kind of a risky question to ask at a time like this in our world, don’t you think? Because it might cause somebody to almost be pushed over the edge. You’re right. Why am I alive? But wait a minute, stop. Why are you alive? There’s an answer to this. God has a plan for your life.
-
In fact, the reason why you might be depressed or you might be sensing or feeling that there’s no reason to live anymore is because you don’t know that God has a great plan for your life. Friends, listen. God has given you and I a purpose. You are not here by accident. Jesus Christ is not only the way and the truth and the life.
-
All of that is his desire for you to live that out in your life. So when you ask the question, why am I here and why am I alive? The fact is this. Once you understand God’s plan for your life, that will change your life. It’ll change your focus. It will change your direction. It will change your purpose. The omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient God that he is has a purpose for your life.
-
There is a great reason for why you exist. Why don’t you find out? Why don’t you grab your Bible or listen up and find out why you want to live and why you have a life? Let’s look at it right now. [Applause] In the book of Acts, chapter 17, Paul is in Athens. He’s waiting for his ministry team to show up. They’re a little bit late, so he’s taking a walk around uh the Agora heading up the hill uh up to Mars Hill.
-
And in Acts 17:4, Paul says, “God who made the world and everything in it, since he is Lord of heaven and earth.” Well, that stopped. Listen, that stopped the Greeks right there. Wait, what’ you say? Yeah. Hi, you guys. I’m talking about my God. He’s the Lord of heaven and earth. They They would have said, “Wow, we haven’t heard about this God.
-
We got a God for this and a God for that and a God for the other thing. But who are you talking about? My God is the Lord of heaven and earth. And they would have went, “Wow, he doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands. He what? Nor is he worshiped with men’s hands. Don’t bring him an offering. You guys can wash your hands of all that blood, all that sacrifice, all that stuff.
-
He doesn’t want stuff.” Yeah. You don’t need to come and worship him with your own hands as though he needed anything since he gives to all life, breath, and all things. Can you say amen to that? This is the God of the Bible. This is incredible. This is awesome. And what’s beautiful about this is God is just saying, “I need nothing from you.
