God’s Timing Is Perfect—Even When It Feels Delayed

God is sovereign over every moment of your life—even the ones that feel like setbacks. Think about Joseph, who spent two long years in prison. He may have wondered, “Will they ever remember me? Did my kindness even matter?” Maybe you can relate. You give rides, help out, serve meals, clean the house, and yet it feels like no one says, “Thank you.” You start to think, “Am I just a free Uber? A free DoorDash? A private chef? A housekeeper no one notices?”

But here’s the truth: if Joseph had been released from prison even one day earlier, he might have missed the exact moment God had prepared for him. That divine opportunity would have passed him by. God’s timing isn’t late—it’s perfect.

Let’s talk about timing in another way: food. During the famine, Joseph’s leadership was crucial. Think about how we decide when food is “too old.” My wife, Holly, and I have different standards. She treats expiration dates as suggestions—she goes by smell. I go by what’s printed on the label. She even saved a peach I was about to throw away, catching it mid-air like an athlete. “Brown ain’t bad,” she said. Why? Because she knows the difference between rotten and ripe.
