The Jewish people were brought into the world to glorify God, to make him known. In order to do that, you have to come against and expose the gods of the world. Paul purposed in the spirit that when he passed through Macedonia and Aaya that he would go to Jerusalem, saying, “After I have been there, I must also see Rome.
” Now Paul had spread the gospel throughout the eastern part of the empire. But now he decides to go back to Jerusalem for the last time and from there set off for Rome itself. That’s the western part of the empire. He also speaks about wanting to go to Spain. That’s now the west. So he’s going to return to Jerusalem, but he has to know and he’s going to know because someone’s going to prophesy, but he’s got to know already that it’s going to be dangerous that it could be it.
And he is going to be arrested there. But he knows he’s being led by the spirit. He says, “I’m going no matter what.” Verse 22, “Having sent into Macedonia, two of those who ministered with him, Timothy and Aras, he himself stayed in Asia for a while. So before going to Jerusalem, Paul sends Timothy and Aras, his helpers, to Macedonia while he stays back in a province of Asia.
” Now again Asia is not Asia as we think it’s little Asia also called Asia Minor. Today it’s called Turkey. Okay. And right now he’s staying in where he was which is Ephesus. Ephesus is mentioned in Acts in the letters and in the book of Revelation verse 23.
