other cultures had temples to their gods but Israel had God dwelling in their midst even when it was a tent what makes you unique and what makes this Faith unique is not just that you believe in Jesus you believe but that God actually dwells in [Music] you then Moses went up the mountain and the cloud covered the mountain and the glory of the Lord rested on Mount Si and the cloud covered it for six days on the seventh day he called to Moses from the midst of the cloud to the eyes of the children of Israel the appearance of the
glory of the Lord was like a consuming fire upon the Mountaintop Moses entered into the midst of the cloud he went up on the mountain and Moses was on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights now imagine the scene the glory of God appears on the Mountaintop and the Israelites it says they saw it it looked like a devouring fire not that it was a fire it looked like a devouring Fire on the Mountain on one of the tours I’ve done to Israel we were in the desert not far from where the Israelites could have come and it was early morning it was
just kind of becoming it was dark but becoming lighter and there was a high desert mountain in the distance and you could imagine I could imagine Mount Si looking like that and it was still dark but all I looked at it and the top of the mountain was lit up like there was a fire or lightning I didn’t know what it was I still don’t know what it was to this day but I could imagine it gave me the feeling of the glory that the Israelites saw on the top of the mountain of Si when Moses went up now it says in 2 Corinthians 3 Paul is speaking
about this he says but if the ministry of death the law written and engraved on Stones came with Glory that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Messiah for the glory of his face a glory that was passing how shall then verse 8 how shall not the ministry of the spirit be of it even greater glory then 18 it says I love this verse but we with unveiled face beholding as in through a glass the glory of the Lord in the face of Messiah are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory by the spirit of the Lord
Paul is speaking about this very thing the glory on the Mountaintop and he say he’s not saying the glory belonged to the days of Moses he’s saying it belongs to now the glory of God is belongs to the New Covenant in fact more so it’s even greater he says the glory for those in the New Covenant is even greater than the glory that appeared to Moses on top of Mount Si greater than the that would look like a consuming fire and the sound of trumpets and the word of God greater than the the Red Sea parting the word of
