foreign [Music] I want you to turn to the book of Acts the book of Acts begins in Luke chapter one surprise the book of Acts begins where in Luke chapter one we’re going to talk about discovering the kingdom in the book of Acts it’s going to be our Focus this entire first segment we’re going to deal with the whole book of Acts we’re going to ReDiscover the kingdom in the book of Acts now this is very strange for most people but I’m going to prove to you that the entire book of Acts is about one thing it’s about the kingdom of God the kingdom of God so we’re going to be
focusing in this first section on The Rebirth of the Kingdom influence write that down in your notes that’s our topic for the night our series is entitled discovering the kingdom in the book of Acts but our session tonight is The Rebirth of Kingdom influence The Rebirth of Kingdom influence and we are going to be looking at what the first chapter of the book of Acts is about now I’m going to show you this as you read it now before we begin I need to give you some basic history of the book so that you can be wise and sharp disciples so you take these notes the first thing about book of Acts as we
introduce the book of Acts uh it is written by a doctor his name is Luke now you have to refer to the Book of Luke to read the book of Acts you’re going to see why in a minute but it’s written by Luke Luke was a medical doctor now let me say something very important that you might not be aware of Luke was not one of the 12 disciples is that clear Luke was not one of the 12.
you read the list that Jesus chose Luke’s name is not included because Luke was a later disciple that came afterwards now look is an important person because Luke is a is a medical doctor professionally matter of fact Luke traveled with Paul as his personal physician that’s what these Scholars say matter of fact Luke shows up in the book of Acts working with Paul and matter of fact that’s why Luke knew so many details about Paul’s life because Luke got to work with Paul now Paul they believe had certain kinds of physical problems and you will remember reading that Luke probably gave
Paul some good advice one time about drinking a little alcohol for what so make sure your stomach got a shake before you drink alcohol uh Luke was telling Paul obviously some medical advice Paul had probably some gastric problems or some kind of difficulty in his intestines or something and Luke was his personal doctor now Luke being a doctor is important let me tell you two reasons why number one is important because Luke was an objective thinker remember he is a scientific mind and that’s important you see this the the Pharisees uh they were theologians the
