According to the Bible, there is one name that stands above all others: the name of Jesus. At the name of Jesus, demons flee, salvation is given, and healing flows. The name of Jesus carries unparalleled authority in both Heaven and Earth. Yet, it is not surprising that this powerful name faces attacks from the enemy. The devil knows he cannot diminish the power of Jesus’ name, so instead, he attempts to tarnish its honor. He tries to drag it through cultural disrespect, turning it into a curse word. The goal is clear: if believers treat the name of Jesus lightly, they may hesitate to call on it in their times of need.

But who is Jesus, and what did He accomplish? Philippians Chapter 2 reveals that Jesus, the Son of God, chose humility and service. Though He is fully divine, He took on human form and lived among us. Jesus humbled Himself to the point of death—death on a cross. In response, God exalted Him above all, granting Him the name that is above every name. One day, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Today, we honor Jesus for His sacrifice and His victory over sin and death. Through His resurrection, we are invited into a relationship with God. As believers, we are called to live in the truth of Jesus’ lordship, letting His authority guide our lives and His Spirit empower us for God’s glory.

This reflection ties into a broader study of foundational Christian beliefs as expressed in the Apostles’ Creed. Written in the second century, the Creed served as a declaration of faith for new believers preparing for baptism. It was a bold, public statement that said, “I now belong to Jesus.” Over time, the Apostles’ Creed became a unifying confession, enduring through centuries of cultural shifts, persecution, and doctrinal debates. It reminds us that Christianity is built not on changing opinions but on the eternal truth of God’s Word.

As we continue to recite the Apostles’ Creed, we stand united with generations of believers, affirming the core truths of our faith. Together, we declare our belief in God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, the Holy Spirit, the church, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection, and life everlasting.
