The Book Of Revelation: The Lion Of Judah

  • You got a man named Judah of then you got then it becomes the tribe of Judah. Then it becomes the nation of Judah because Judah is ruling. Then it becomes the people of Judah who are called the Yehoudim where we get the word Jew. Revelation we’re up to Revelation 5 and verse one. I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back sealed up with seven seals and written on the inside and the outside.
  • That was not the way things were done. This was written on the outside too. We’re not sure exactly why they could represent completion or there’s no room to add anything from God or the word here is so much. It’s overflowing every space. The revelation is so great. And I saw verse two, a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals? And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it.
  • Then I began to weep greatly because nobody was found worthy to open the scroll and look into it. No one. Verse 5. And one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has overcome to open the scroll and its seven seals.” The only time it appears in the Bible, the lion of the tribe of Judah.
  • What does it mean? Well, first of all, what is a lion? A lion is the king of beasts. Lion is powerful. A lion represents power. Lion is fierce. Nobody makes a lion afraid. But a lions make many everything else afraid. A lion is majestic linked to royalty. Now Messiah is God. And this is not the first time that God is joined to a lion because actually like many of the things in the book of Revelation, it’s a culmination of what is coming through the entire Bible.
  • This is the other side of Messiah that most people don’t think about. The world doesn’t real this at all. Where does it begin? And what does a lion have to do with Judah? It all begins in Genesis. It all ends in Revelation, begins in Genesis. Genesis 49, it says this, Jacob then called his sons together. He said, “Gather yourselves that I might tell you what will happen to you in the days to come.
  • ” Now, it can also be translated in the latter days or the last days. But, and so Jacob is prophesying to his sons. When he gets to Judah, his son Judah, fourth son, he says this. As for you, Judah, your brothers shall praise you. Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies. Your father’s sons will bow down to you. Judah is a lion’s cub.
  • From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He crouches. He lies down as a lion. And as a lion, who dares to stare to stir him up? Judah is mentioned compared to a lion three times and he’s spoken of ruling over his brothers. Judah is connected the tribe of Jud. This is the son Judah comes the tribe of Judah and from this it’s linked to the lion.
  • Why? And how would this be fulfilled? It’ll be fulfilled when David becomes king of Israel because David was of the line of Judah. And from David comes the dynasty of Israel, the throne of Israel to this day. The throne of Israel is the throne of David, which is the throne of Judah because he’s of Judah.
  • Judah is like a lion because Judah is going to reign over Israel. The royal tribe is Judah. So that’s why it’s linked to the lion. And so it’ll reign over the nation. And that could be seen in that that last verse. It says something else. As Jacob prophesies, he adds one more thing to Judah.
  • He says this, “The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor a ruler’s staff from between his feet until Shiloh comes, and to him shall be the obedience of the people.” The scepter, the throne will be to Judah. Therefore, you have a line, the ruler’s staff, Judah. In other words, this is royal. This is going to be the royal tribe, and it will not depart from him.
  • The shepherd will not until Shiloh comes. What is Shiloh? The rabbis took this as meaning it is the Messiah. The scepter will not depart from Judah until Messiah comes. Messiah is going to be born of Judah. He’s born of David, born of Judah. Jesus Yeshua was born of David, born of Judah. So the scepter will not depart.
