Hey, good morning. Welcome to the Friday wrap-up of politics and pop culture. James, uh, looking forward to the weekend. I am very much so. Me, too. It rained this morning in Tennessee. We’re going through this heat wave. This was glorious and it’s not quite so hot today. But things are hot in the Middle East.
We’re talking about Israel, Iran, and the US involvement and the potential for this to turn into a larger conflict across the region. Could this be World War II? We’re in desperate times right now. Mike Huckabe sent a text uh note to the president that I found to be very moving. It wasn’t a self-serving text. It was one that came from, I believe, uh, the heart of a man who is humble and wise and understands that when you’re dealing with wars and the lives of millions of people, you desperately need discernment that comes from heaven, God’s wisdom, and he is praying for the
president of the United States as he makes these decisions. And that was even before he made the decision to drop those uh bunker buster bombs in Iran on their nuclear facilities. So, let’s talk about that today. James, roll the video. Israel has carried out unprecedented strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities and military leadership.
[Music] You know what we have? We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the they’re doing. Do you understand that? What do we do as everyday civilians, citizens of the United States who want peace, who want opportunity and freedom? We understand that we have a need to defend our country.
We want to help our friends, our neighbors. There’s good people in countries in the Middle East. There’s good people in the United States and there’s bad people in the Middle East and bad people in the United States and all over the world. What can we as the family of faith do to be part of the solution and not part of the problem? Well, here are my thoughts.
Number one, it’s interesting to remember that the fighting going on in the Middle East can all be traced back thousands of years to Abraham. They’ve been fighting for literally millennia. And it goes back to who who owns the land. And it was given to the sons of Abraham. And was it given to Isaac or was it given to Ishmael? And the whole Old Testament of the scriptures is interpreted based on your view of who the true son of Abraham was.
And so in the recent past, we see this fighting continue. And we saw what happened on October 7th and the invasion of Hamas into Israel. Israel has retaliated very strongly into Palestine and Gaza. More recently, we saw that Iran has allegedly gotten very close to developing uranium to the point where they could have a nuclear bomb.
