Sleep With Jesus Listening to Psalm 121
-
Oh, how precious it is to know that Jesus, our sweet, loving Savior, is not only with us in the brightness of the day, but in the stillness of the night. There is such peace, beloved, in knowing that he is the shepherd of our souls, even when we close our eyes. You see, he doesn’t leave us when the sun sets.
-
He doesn’t walk away when the world gets quiet. It is often in those very moments when we are tucked away in silence, when the chaos of the world fades into the background, that his presence becomes even more real, even more tender, even more intimate. Just think about it. The psalmist said, “The Lord is my shepherd.
-
I shall not want.” That wasn’t just for the daylight hours. No, that’s a forever promise. That’s for the night watchers, too. When the darkness comes, when the shadows fall, when the worries of the day linger in the corners of your heart, he is still the shepherd. And what does a shepherd do, precious one? He watches, he guards, he protects, he leads.
-
A good shepherd never sleeps on the job. He stands at the door. He counts his sheep and makes sure not one is lost. Tonight, I want you to close your eyes and see Jesus standing at the doorway of your room. He’s not pacing. He’s not nervous. He’s calm. He’s confident. He is the prince of peace. The same hands that touched the leper and made him clean.
-
The same hands that broke bread and fed 5,000. Those same hands are over your life tonight. Oh, don’t you feel it? That holy assurance, that gentle peace wrapping around your soul. The world might give you noise. It might give you fear, but Jesus gives you peace. He gives you quietness of spirit. He makes you lie down in green pastures even when the world outside feels like a battlefield.
-
And he leads you beside still waters. Yes, still waters. Not rushing waves, not stormy seas. Still, gentle, peaceful. You see, he knows what your body needs. He knows what your soul has been through. He knows the battles you’ve fought today. He knows the burdens you’ve carried, the pain you’ve pushed down, the tears you’ve cried when no one was watching.
