Releasing the Blessing

Dr. Bill Winston presents the teaching, “Releasing the Blessing,” designed to help believers live the life of faith and manifest God’s plan for their lives. The fundamental goal of this teaching is to understand and activate the Blessing, which God intended to position believers at the top of everything in the earth, enabling them to be the head and not the tail, and the lender and not the borrower. The program, The Believer’s Walk of Faith, emphasizes walking by faith and not by sight.

The Blessing as Inheritance and Empowerment

The Blessing is an integral part of the believer’s inheritance. It is described as Baraka, which is the divine empowerment for success.

The Nature and Power of the Blessing

The blessing possesses immense power and ability:

1. Eradication of Curses: The blessing is so potent that it can eradicate any curse.
2. Autonomous Function: The blessing knows what to do when it is released. Believers do not need to tell the blessing how to operate; they only need to release it. This is compared to how dirt knows what to do when a seed is planted, or how birds know to fly south for winter—they are all programmed.
3. Source of Wealth Without Toil: The blessing of the Lord is what maketh rich. According to the NIV translation, the blessing brings wealth without painful toil.
4. Transformation of Conditions: The blessing is specifically designed to transform the worst conditions in a believer’s life into the Garden of Eden. It ensures that whatever is not found in heaven will not be found in your family or on your block.
5. Divine Location: If you are born again, the blessing is not just on you, it is in you.

Activating the Blessing: Faith and The Promise

Faith is the key necessary for believers to secure their inheritance. Dr. Winston emphasizes that believers must avoid trying to get God’s blessing without faith, as “it’s not gonna happen”.

Faith Comes by The Promise

For faith to activate, it must have a specific target:

• Faith is in the Promise: The faith for receiving the promise (your inheritance) is in the promise itself.
• Specificity Required: When believing God for healing, it is not enough to say, “I just know God is a healer.” What handles the situation is standing on the specific promise.
• Hearing the Word: Faith comes by hearing (and hearing by) the word of God (the promise). Preachers are meant to preach the promise (the inheritance) so that faith for that promise is released in the people.

Releasing the Blessing Through Words and Obedience

The blessing must be released to go to work.

• Power of the Tongue: Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Believers can speak against their blessing, which is why God calls heaven and earth to witness that He has set before them life and death, blessing and cursing, urging them to choose life.
• Simple Obedience: Releasing the blessing often requires simple obedience to God’s instructions, even if they seem basic or “stupid”. The instructions are not grievous (hard to do). An example is shared where a woman, instructed by Dr. Winston after hearing from God (headquarters), poured blessed oil down the middle of the street. This action, despite seeming simple, released the blessing, causing drug dealers to vacate the block permanently within a day.

Historical and Biblical Mandates for Dominion

God created mankind in His own image and likeness. He gave this man (Adam) the image of dominion and authority over the earth, along with the power God used to create all matter. This original plan was for man to dominate the earth and make it the garden spot of the universe.

The Loss and Restoration of the Blessing

• Loss Through Disobedience: Man lost the blessing through disobedience. Adam’s transgression involved eating of the tree, which the sources identify as representing the tithe. By violating this command, he lost the nature of God, acquired the nature of iniquity (Satan’s nature), and God was no longer his father.
• Restoration: The blessing was restored through the Last Adam (Jesus Christ). Jesus’ teaching, the Beatitudes on the Sermon on the Mount, was about how to reconnect with the blessing.
• Patriarchal Faith: The single blessing was passed from Abraham (the father of the faithful) to Isaac, and then to Jacob. Abraham offered his son in obedience, which established a requirement for God to offer His own Son. When Isaac blessed Jacob (thinking it was Esau), he had faith in the release of the blessing, which meant the blessing would do exactly what he spoke, cementing Jacob’s inheritance.

The conference featured speakers such as Bishop Tudor Bismark, Brother Kenneth Copeland, and Dr. Jesse Duplantis. A special leadership conference for pastors and ministry leaders was also offered.
