Q&A | Rhythms, Reverence, and the Realities of Leadership

  • Okay, we’ve got such a fun bonus episode for you today. I’m so fired up because I posted on my Instagram and said, “Ask me anything.” And if you know me, nothing is off limits. And I got to say, you’ll delivered. So today, my friend Maddie is reading all of your questions live and I’m going to answer them in real time.
  • So, I’m excited about this. Strap yourself in. Who knows what’s about to come out of my mouth. >> Okay, Chris, >> I am ready. Okay. I always get nervous, but I said nothing’s off limits. So, >> people are asking you all kinds of questions. It’s awesome. And you know, we have people from all over the world that sent these in, and if you said, “Ask me anything,” they sure did deliver. So, let’s dive in.
  • Okay, so um Eva, she asked, “How do you remain optimistic about doing God’s work in a secular setting?” >> A great question. Well, you know, part of that is I believe that we’re wired up to do it in a secular setting because we’re called to go into all the world and make disciples. So, the fact is that the world is who we are here to reach.
  • And so, I think a lot of it is a perspective shift to know that I’m on mission. Um, sometimes in the church we have done people a disservice by creating this sort of sacred and secular. So people think because Christine Kane’s like out there doing Christian conferences, she’s doing the real Christian ministry and here I am and I’m working at a supermarket.
  • So I’m not really doing ministry. And I’m going, “No, no, no, no. There is not sacred and secular. This is God’s world and he loves that world and we’re all sent into all the world to make disciples of all nations.” And so I think h so I’d say all that to answer the question how you stay optimistic is to realize that you’re living on mission for Jesus that you are the salt of the earth.
  • You are the light of the world. Christ in you is the hope of glory. You get me? I mean if you’ve read anything if you hear any of my sermons you’re going to hear this coming through um that you you don’t have to be like more Christian if you’re in Christian vocational ministry. I’m like there’s only one Christian then there’s only one life that we have which is the life to be found in Christ and so if you’re in a uh you know a secular workplace again I have a real aversion to the language secular sacred I just think we have this one life in Christ
  • >> but you know like every Christ follower should get up every day be in the word and god give me a strategy for today how am I going to reflect you to the world around me today how am are going to see your will be done here on earth today as it is in heaven. And I think as soon as you could take off that thought that there’s this sort of church life, Christian life, right, >> and then this other life, the more you integrate that, uh, the more you will see the power of God flow through your life and you’ll see signs. What was sort
