Listen, your kids don’t need a perfect parent. [music] They need a present one. 32. >> You know, one of the things I deeply regretted was the fact that I [music] did not have enough information, understanding, and teaching on how to raise children in the grace of God. Um, I would raise them based under the law.
I would raise them based on [music] how I was raised. And that’s not always the best way to do it. But uh when I began to understand the gospel of grace, I began to [music] understand the love of God, the mercy of God, those things became very very [music] important to me.
And um most of the time my parenting was [music] done in fear. And you don’t want to, you know, raise your children because you fear they’re going to turn out this way. You fear [music] that they’re going to hang out with the wrong people. You fear that all of these things. And when you have that type of fear, then I [music] guarantee you it it it’s just not a good outcome.
But when you raise children in grace, you have a heavenly father that you can look at that heavenly [music] father and you can see, you know, how he treats you. Look at the mercy [music] that God shows you. Look at the grace that God shows you. Look at the [music] unmmerited favor and love that God shows you. [music] And I’m telling you, when you when you have children, you’ve got to be prepared to be present.

And I get that, but you know, [music] kids need time. uh they need mom and dad picking them up from the [music] from school, uh getting them dressed, taking them to school, spending time doing a whole bunch of different things.
[music] Uh that’s how you show love to kids. That’s how they perceive love from [music] you is time. T I M E. And if you’re willing to show them love by giving [music] your time, and that’s a that’s a 20-year endeavor, you know, being at all the games, being at the Spelling Bees, [music] being at all these things to say I care.
