Something’s going on in heaven and God has made a decision and it when he makes that decision, he sends his word. The Bible says the word of the Lord came to Elijah. So this is a direct line from God. This is something that God wants to be accomplished. And this is what he says to Elijah in verse 9.
-
Arise, get thee to Zarapath, which belongth to Zidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. And so this the word of the Lord starts off with transition. And he said, “Elijah,” he said, “I’m moving you.” And Elijah has been in this place where he has been sustained and he’s went from place to place and he’s leaving the the brook Cherith and uh that dries up.

And so, first of all, God is preserving the prophet’s life. He is sustaining him because he’s not done with Elijah. So he tells him, he says, “I need you to move now.” He said, “My provision is changing. It’s no longer at Cherith, but he said, “My provision is moving to Zerapath.” And sometimes when you’re in your life and you’re in transition, the provision doesn’t stop.

It’s just going to come from a different source. So God’s going to talk to you about transition. He’s going to say, “I need you to trust me and make a change.” And so Elijah uh the Lord tells him, he says, “I want you to get to Zerapath.” Because he said, “I’m still going to sustain you.” But he said, “I have already commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
