You’re watching KCMI TV, and I appreciate you joining me today. I feel like I have a fresh word from the Lord to share with you. I truly sense God’s presence on this message. It’s from Isaiah 61, a chapter rich with prophetic declarations about the church. These chapters are filled with wonderful promises, and today I want to focus on a familiar verse from Isaiah 61. Although I wish I had the time to read the entire chapter, I’ll share the first three verses:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.”
This is powerful! In these verses, God speaks about mourning three times. He offers beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. We all have experienced seasons of mourning, times when things seem to have died or been lost. But God is addressing this mourning. He’s not just talking about physical death; it’s about things that once brought joy but now seem gone, leaving us with a spirit of mourning.
