Righteousness and Faith

  • And this is why every man has to be born again. Because it’s not just the works that God looks at, but he looks at the source from which those works come from. And so when when you’re reading this, when it’s talking about Abraham, it says that that Abraham uh he believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.
  • So first of all, I want to say this, faith is not righteousness. Faith is the channel or the vehicle that righteousness comes into our life by. And so when you’re talking about Abraham, this is very interesting because we’re talking about somebody that God says is righteous before Calvary, before the blood of Jesus Christ was ever shed.
  • And you and I were not our sins were no longer covered, but they are now cleansed. And so at Calvary, all of our sins were cleansed and that we now have the right to come into the presence of the Lord. Because the righteousness that you and I have from Calvary is not our own righteousness, but it is the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
  • And so the Lord makes it very plain. James I believe talked about he said our righteousness is comparable to filthy rags in comparison to the righteousness of the Lord. So when he’s talking about Abraham here it says that Abraham believed God. That means that Abraham had faith that what God says he was also able to do. In fact, if you go farther down in this chapter and it’s verse uh 21, it says Abraham was fully assured that what God had promised, he was also able to perform.
