Pastor Kent Christmas | Faith | April 2, 2025
You’re watching KCMI TV, and I’m so glad you’re joining me today. I’m excited to talk about one of my favorite subjects: faith. I initially had a different topic planned for today’s podcast, but when I went into prayer early this morning, God began to lead me into a continuation of the message we shared last Sunday. If you missed last Sunday’s message at regenerationnashville.org, I encourage you to go back and listen to it because I truly believe it will change your life.
As believers, the journey we take with the Lord is one of constant elevation. God is always working to take us higher because everything about Him is higher. Scripture tells us to lay aside every weight that holds us back, and through faith, God works to remove the things in our lives that prevent us from ascending to Him. The Old Testament says, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? He that hath clean hands and a pure heart.” I believe that a pure heart refers to having faith and not a heart filled with unbelief. Paul warns that a heart of unbelief is evil, and we tend to associate evil with actions like murder or lying. However, the Bible tells us that a heart filled with unbelief is considered evil.
The Bible mentions at least four times that “the just shall live by faith,” referring to those justified in God’s eyes. “Live” in this context doesn’t simply mean existing—it refers to living a full life, filled with joy, blessings, peace, and prosperity. Faith brings these attributes into our lives. When we look back to Genesis and the story of Enoch, we see that Enoch believed God and was pleasing to the Lord. If faith pleases God, then without faith, we are not pleasing to Him.
You may wonder, “How do I know if I have unbelief?” I want to share some signs with you. One common sign is trouble sleeping—waking up at night with anxiety over things that haven’t even happened yet. Another sign is a lack of peace, where your spirit feels troubled. Anxiety is another indicator. The Bible tells us to be anxious for nothing, yet many people live with constant anxiety, seeing the negative side of everything. That’s not God’s will. He wants us to look at challenges with faith, believing that He can overcome them.
Faith is about seeing your situation through God’s eyes. The Bible talks about having the eyes of understanding, which speaks to your spirit. That’s why it’s crucial to feed your spirit with God’s Word. Through faith, we can position ourselves in God to look at difficult situations and still have hope. It’s important to note that faith doesn’t mean you won’t face mountains, sickness, or financial struggles. Instead, faith means that when you face these challenges, you don’t look at them through your own understanding. As 2 Corinthians says, “Casting down every imagination and every high thing that exalts itself above the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity.” When you look at a problem with natural eyes, your imagination can take over and create a negative future. But with the power of the Holy Spirit, you can cast down those thoughts and see the situation through Jesus’ eyes. When Jesus faced the impossible, He saw it as an opportunity to work miracles.
Faith allows you to look at any problem and believe that God can handle it, even when everything seems impossible.
