Ambassadors For Christ | June 11, 2025

” And Philippians the third chapter says that our citizenship is in heaven. So, just to lay a a foundation here before we get into the meat of what I want to talk to you about, um Paul here begins to establish a principle that before we get saved, we are citizens of an earthly country. But he said, “When you give your heart to Christ,” and Paul talks about this.
-
He says that when we get saved, we become a new creation. We’re part of a new area. And so he said, “When you give your heart to the Lord, your citizenship changes. You’re no longer the citizens in the spirit realm of this realm, but you become a citizen of heaven.” and that our citizenship changes. If if you move from the United States and you move to England, then you have to get a different citizenship because you no longer live in the United States.
-
You now live in England. So, you’re governed by their laws. Um, all of that. They’re responsible to to provide you an area to live in. So Paul here is dealing with this whole concept that in the spirit realm you have the realm of the enemy and then you have the realm of heaven. And so when you become a new creation and you give your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ, your citizenship changes because you’ve moved.
-
You’ve moved from the realm of sin and you’ve moved from the realm of evil. You’ve move you’ve moved from the realm where the devil is the prince of the power of the air and you become a citizen of heaven. So that’s why he says he says that we are now our citizenship is in heaven. So we’ll say pastor you know if if I am a citizen of heaven why am I in this realm? Why are we still in the earth? And this is this is our key verse today.
-
Uh if you have your Bibles, you want to turn with me to 2 Corinthians chapter 5. This is in uh the verse uh verse 20 says, “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ as though God did beseech you by us and we pray you in Christstead that ye be reconciled to God.” And I want to go to the third part of this. He says that you are in Christstead.
-
So in other words, Christ is not here, but you are standing in proxy for him. You now represent Christ. And this is why he said this. He said you are an ambassador of Christ. So, and there’s so much to this. Uh when a country wants a government, a president, a king wants to be represented to be represented in another country.
-
He sends one of his citizens to that country and they now stand in thestead of the country from where they come from and they represent that country. So Paul is saying here he said now that you are a citizen of heaven. He said God has made you an ambassador in this realm in the earth and you represent you represent the law and and the realm of Jesus Christ.
-
And so I want to give you some I want to give you some privileges that come when you are a an ambassador for a king or a president. And if you go to other countries, you will and and you’re a citizen and you you get in trouble. You don’t go to the government of that country. You go to what they call the embassy. And the embassy is considered territory.
-
Even though it’s in a foreign country, the land that that embassy is built on is considered foreign soil. And it’s considered the soil of the sovereign nation for which the ambassador represents. And so if you get into trouble, you go to that embassy. And when you get inside that embassy, when you go through those gates, you are now protected from the enemy that would be in that country.
-
And so, uh, I want to give you some some thoughts here to think about. And there’s a spiritual, uh, uh, concept here. The first thing that happens for a an ambassador is they have diplomatic immunity. And this means that ambassadors are protected from prosecution under the host country that they’re in laws. So even though that ambassador is in a foreign country, they are not controlled by the laws of that country. They have immunity.
-
And you’ve ever you you heard about this that somebody uh uh from another country that’s an ambassador, they have diplomatic immunity that they can violate laws in the United States and they can’t be prosecuted. When you are an ambassador for Christ, the natural laws that are in the earth do not apply to you. There are laws that in the laws of of the kingdom of darkness that sickness and poverty and all of these things uh have that you’re under its authority.
-
God says no. He says because you are an ambassador. He says the laws that apply to the citizens of that country to and let’s take it farther spiritually to sinners. The laws that govern sinners do not govern you because you are not under the laws of the enemy’s realm or domain, but you live under the laws of a heavenly country.
