• Non leans down into that water acknowledging I can’t heal myself. [Music] Hey y’all. Welcome back to the NIV Application Bible podcast. Um I’ve really enjoyed being on this journey with you. Thank you for for hanging out with us. Um we’re in Second Kings today. Before we dive into this story, I want to tell you one of my own.
• Happened a long time ago, but I’ll never forget it. I was probably in my 30s and I was um teaching the Bible at a women’s conference and I was talking about grace, about God’s unmmerited favor. That our relationship with God isn’t something we earn by good behavior. It’s a gift from God. Really, the only thing we bring to the table is the cognizance that we can’t make it to ourselves. that we need a Messiah.
• And and I shared this message and at the end there were maybe 500 women at the event. I was out on the foyer talking to a bunch of women and one of the leaders of this particular event stood and watched me for a long time and then when when I was by myself and the women had kind of all gone out in the parking lot to leave, she walked up and she said, “That was a very good message.
• ” She was a lot older than I was, had a lot more authority. And I said, “Well, thank you so much.” And she said, “I think it was very good for them.” And I was like, “Oh, well, yes, ma’am.” And she said, “They need grace. I actually do not.” And I thought she was teasing me. And so I started to laugh. And then I realized by that stone cold expression on her face.
