Barabus is each of us. Each of us are Barabus. We think that Messiah was born into our life. Well, he was. But the deeper truth is we were born into his life. I want to give you the riches of God that most never see. It begins when God speaks to his servant Abraham. Genesis 22 came after these things that God tested Abraham.
Said to him, Abraham, he said, ‘Here I am. Then he said, take your only son whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Mariah and offer him up as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you. Now, God never wanted Abraham to offer his son. He was testing Abraham. Abraham had been waiting his whole life for this child, this miracle child, the answer to God’s promise through whom he said will come a great nation.
And now God says, “Offer up your son.” So Abraham got up early in the morning, saddled his donkey, took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split wood for the burnt offering, set out, went to the place of which God had told him. So Abraham takes a donkey undoubtedly puts his son on the donkey and goes a Isaac is the promised son the beloved son of the father.
Abraham means father he’s the son of the father. The father takes his son to the land of Mariah. Then he takes it says on the third day Abraham raised his eyes saw the place from a distance. Abraham said to his young man stay here with a donkey. I and the boy will go over there and we will worship and we will return to you. It’s the faith of Abraham.
Mariah is a mountain. The son goes up the mountain. It says Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and put it on Isaac his son. So here Isaac is now carrying wood on his shoulders undoubtedly going up the mountain. And then Isaac stops asked his father a question. Isaac said to his father, “My father,” he said, “here I am, my son.
” said, ‘Look, the fire, the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering? Abraham said, ‘God will provide himself the lamb. And the two of them went on together. When they got to the place Abraham laid his son on the wood, binds his son to the wood, then lifts up his knife, the son of the father laying on the altar as a lamb.
The entire nation of Israel is there. God calls out says, “Do not lay a hand on the boy.” He says, “The angel of the Lord called to Abraham and said, by myself,” this is God speaking, “by myself, I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your only son.” And then he says, “I will bless you.
