This morning’s prayer is a awesome, beautiful verse, well-known verse. Um, Hebrews chap 12:14. Hebrews 12:14. Thank you, Tommy, for giving me a sound. Uh, and Lzette, thank you for the update on the sound. Um, Hebrews 12:14 says, “Pursue peace with all people.” It’s number one. And holiness, that’s number two.
And here’s the uh result uh without which no one will see the Lord. Uh let me reverse it. Um no one will see the Lord unless they practice unless they conduct themselves in the pursuit of peace with all that they come in contact with and with the pursuit of holiness. Um that’s a good way to remember that. So pursue peace with all people. What does this mean? It means that we are going to pray that we become the peacemakers that Jesus says the Holy Spirit um will seek to work out in our lives.
Um we are to be peace makers. You say what does that mean peacemakers? That means in every possible situation uh you try to uh bring about an answer to mitigate to um diffuse uh to bring people to the table as it were to talk or to um seek restoration, pursue peace with all people. um we are to do that.
It doesn’t always work because the other people may not be interested in peace, but that doesn’t mean we stop seeking and praying and looking for an opportunity to pursue peace with all people. Now, generally speaking, we personally as individuals, we are to live at peace with all people ourselves. In other words, don’t stir things up.
Um, I believe it’s in the book of Proverbs where it says, “Don’t grab a dog by the ears.” Okay, think about that picture for a moment. You grab a dog by the ears and you’re going to get hurt. And you should get hurt because you shouldn’t grab a dog by the ears. Um, if you grab a dog by the ears, consider the the positioning.
