LIFT Daily Prayer: Day 341: Died With Him, Alive With Him
And we have 25 days 25 days left remaining in our prayer time and in our prayer discipline. We started this out 340 days ago, my friends, and it is to learn how to pray the Bible. And I trust that your prayer life has grown and become more disciplined. You’ve certainly experienced the battle, haven’t you, between the spirit and the flesh as you have, as we have many times, desire to stay in bed or not get up and get into this.
I understand that completely. Some of you have work schedules where it’s just impossible for you to join us at 5:00 a.m. uh Pacific time. Um I get it completely. God is good. this uh this technology, this social media, what do you want to call it? Internet stuff. It doesn’t always have to be bad. This is a way of making it good.
We’re we’re redeeming it. So, but good morning to all of you. We’re going to be uh considering praying uh a familiar verse. I would think too many of us, we often go to this as believers to make sure it’s still in the Bible to make sure that this promise still stands. And lo and behold, there it is always. 2 Timothy 2:11.
2 Timothy 2:1. 2 Timothy 2 11. And simple but powerful. And here it is. This is a faithful saying. For if we died with him, we shall also live with him. Once again, 2 Timothy 2:11, this is a faithful saying, for or because the word is translated either way, if we died past tense with Christ, we shall also live with him.
That is uh present future tense shall. It’s amazing. So one more time listen. So this is a faithful saying. This you can hang your hat on. We would say this is what you can take to the bank as we have a saying for or if we died with him. When did that happen? The moment that you came to faith in Jesus, the moment you saw, you woke up to the realization that you needed him as Lord and Savior and you had that encounter where you said, “Oh God, save me.
” However the wording was is not important. But what is absolutely important is that you wake up to the realization of how dead you are. And you can only do that by God. No, nobody can wake you up. You can’t wake yourself up. God wakes you up to realize that you are dead spiritually because of your sins. And we need to die to that old person.
But listen, please don’t misunderstand me. Human effort cannot do that. Only faith in Christ can do that. For if we died with him, so the question or or the the the verse is actually asking us a question of of a condition. Did you repent? Have you come to Christ? How about this? If you had to do it all over again, would you come to Christ today? If you had to do it all over again, would you do it even sooner than what you did in your life? That is come to Christ.
