LIFT Daily Prayer: Day 202: His Calling Is Irrevocable
-
Today’s going to be an awesome, awesome day at church. I can’t wait for it to get here. Um, all three services are going to be I know they’re going to be just gripping because um I will be doing um a special series with my good friend Amir Sarat. Amir and I are going to be talking about replacement theology, God’s plan for Israel, and why it matters to the Christian.
-
And this going to be very, very important. I need all of you. Good morning, Courtney. Uh, tell Jason I said hi this morning. Um, this is going to be super important for you. It’s going to be more for you uh to get this under your belt to be um a defender of the faith and to be very careful uh to honor the name of Jesus and his word as we are commanded uh to or with the communication Jesus gave to the church at Philadelphia.
-
Every one of us in the book of Revelation, uh, chapter 3, it’s Jesus’s letter to the church at Philadelphia. We want to be that kind of believer. You can read it later, but um, never confuse Israel and the church. If you do that, your theology will be messed up in tons of other places. And it’s disastrous.
-
And it’s also to uh to deny u the scriptures as given to God. And so, um, it’s amazing because in the book of Revelation to the church of Philadelphia, he says that he will judge those who call themselves Jews and are not. And I think in this modern age, that’s got to be a that’s got to be a a verse that should cause replacement theology um people to cringe.
-
The church is not Israel. Israel is not the church. And what does what plan does God have for the Jews, for the church uh in the upcoming days? all that today starting at 8:00 a.m. uh right here. So, good morning everybody. Okay, here we go. Um along those lines, I’m I’m extracting a verse um from Romans 11.
-
Remember Romans chapter 9, 10 and 11 deal with Israel as a nation, Israel as the Jews, and Israel the land of promise. Romans chapters 11 uh 9 10 and 11. And in Romans 11 verse 28, and 29, it’s it’s really verse 29 that we’re going to pray today because it applies to all. But check this out. Romans 11:28.
-
Concerning the gospel, they that is Israel, the Jews are enemies for your sake. In other words, they don’t agree with us. They don’t see Jesus as Messiah yet. Paul makes it clear that there’s a day coming when the veil shall be lifted from their eyes and they’ll see. But concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sake.
-
But concerning the election, they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. Interesting. Why Paul are you saying this? Verse 29. Here it is. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Wow. The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Whatever God has gifted to anyone who will believe in him, trust him, follow him, right? Be a child of his.
-
Those gifts, the gift of salvation, the gift of faith, the gifts of the spirit, you name it, the gifts of the promises, and the calling of God to be a child of God. When God stirs your heart to say yes to him, that is a work of God. Think about it everybody. Be encouraged by this. This is the work of God.
