LIFT Daily Prayer: Day 178: We’re Not Home Yet
-
Good, good morning, Friday morning. Shabbat shalom to all of you and to especially our Jewish brothers and sisters in Yeshua. Good morning. Our um our prayer today is Hebrews 11:16. Hebrews 11:16. And uh it’s it’s sweet. It’s precious. I’m going to read it to you and you’re going to you’re going to on the inside you’re going to say yes and amen to that.
-
It’s getting the outside to cooperate with this uh beautiful um pursuit that’s that’s in us as believers. Hebrews 11:16. Of course, the book of Hebrews, chapter 11, is the chapter of the lifestyles, right, of the righteous and faithful. It’s the list of those who exhibited profound faith or steadfast faith over their lifetime. And it’s a great great chapter to read.
-
Hebrews 11:16 says, “But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly home. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.” H listen, he’s talking not only not only is he talking about the Old Testament saints, but he’s talking about you and I. If you are a true believer, listen to me in a moment.
-
This is your struggle. This is your struggle. And I want to wrap this around real quickly around the verse uh this verse regarding our uh pilgrims, the pilgrim fathers that came on the Mayflower. They actually um Bradford, William Bradford um wrote and quoted I believe I’m thinking that it’s either Bradford or John Robinson.
-
I’m trying to remember who wrote that down. But they saw themselves they took this verse to the Mayflower’s mission. They were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God. For he has prepared for them a city. Oh my goodness. Think about it. You and I want to move.
-
The real believer right now, we want to move to the city of God. That’s our heart’s desire. Say, “I don’t like cities, right?” I don’t either. You know why we don’t like cities is because cities are man’s attempt to try to bring everything together and almost create a man’s version and attempt of of heaven where everything’s there, everything’s within reach, everything is city.
