LIFT Daily Prayer: Day 124
-
Think of this. It’s 1 Corinthians 15 verse 24 and 25. It’s too big to unpack in our few moments together. I’m going to quote it once or twice or read it once or twice and we’ll pray accordingly. And then comes the end when he delivers the kingdom of God to the father. That’s Jesus delivers the kingdom of God to the father.
-
When he puts an end to all rule and to all authority and power, it means all governments of the world will cease. Thank God, right? For he must reign till he has put all enemies under his feet. It’s a couple of verses describing the coming and ultimate rule and reign of Jesus which will bring in the judgment of the nations which is fascinating because there are various judgments in the Bible.
-
For example, God judges the wicked. Number two, God judges individuals uh for their conduct based on their conduct. But when Christ comes as king, it’s interesting to note that he will judge the nations. So whenever you read in the Old Testament about God judging the nations or how about this in Matthew 25 when the Bible says that Jesus will separate the nations from one another like a she like a shepherd separates sheep from the goats.
-
That’s the judgment of the nations in Matthew 25 when Jesus returns to earth. Wow. So, here’s here’s our prayer today is that you and I would live um with the end in sight. To live with the end in sight. This should not surprise you. Now, as a non-believer, if you’re a non-believer, you should be mortified over this.
-
Jesus is coming back to judge the wicked and to judge the earth. And if you don’t have his covering, right, which we know as Christians in God’s economy, in God’s heaven, there’s a ledger as it were, the books. And all those whose names are not written down in the lamb’s book of life will enter into condemnation, right? Because why? Because they never came to the Messiah, the lamb of God.
-
And can I put it this way without being um critiqued too harshly? I’m I’m using a metaphor. They never came to have their toe or their ear or their finger dipped in the blood. If you know your Old Testament, the high priest had to have his right toe dipped in the blood of the sacrifice.
-
His right earlobe had to be bloodstained and his finger had to be blood stained. Wherever his feet go, whatever he hears and whatever he touches is sanctified by the blood of the offering. For the Christian, that’s never been more true. Your life and mine has been dipped in the blood of Christ. If you’re not a Christian, you don’t have that.
-
And when you think about the return of Christ, the end, and then comes the end, as Paul told the Corinthians, it scares you. It should scare you. It should scare you into eternal life. Think of it. He’s coming back. If you like it or not, he’s coming back. Well, for the believer, we rejoice because our sins were dealt with at the cross. That’s why Jesus died there.
