LIFT Daily Prayer: Chosen to Bear Lasting Fruit

  • So, good morning to all of you. It is exactly five o’clock right now. So, let’s get down to business before the Lord [snorts] and this is such an important verse. Not that any one other of the others are less. Uh but we um we recognize some verses more powerful than others based upon where we’re at and what we’re living, where we’re uh in the journey in our lives.
  • um one verse one day, one verse another day rightly fit perfectly like a diamond in uh the ring setting. And today’s one of those verses, very important verse, very serious verse, very important and I hope also very joyful. John 15:16. John 15:16. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain that whatever you ask the father in my name, he may give you.
  • Very important verse. It’s packed with doctrine. I know we’re not here for a Bible study. We’re here to pray. [snorts] This prayer would be mainly mostly for ourselves so that we might affect others around us. But listen, here’s the comfort. Jesus says, “You did not choose me. I chose you.” That means if you are longing for the things of God, it’s because of him, not you.
  • It’s not your longing for God that is to be commendable. No, the thanks goes to God for choosing you. You did not choose me, but I chose you. Number two, and appointed or ordained you to something for a purpose. What is that? That you should go and bear fruit. This is so important. Christians listen there are brothers and sisters and then there are brothers and sisters.
  • The brothers and sisters in Christ are fruit producers. The brothers and sisters in Christ by quotations they don’t bear fruit. [snorts] And he says that whatever fruit he produces in us it should remain. It’s going to it’s going to remain that whatever you ask the father in my name he may give it you. This is not a Christmas verse.
  • This is not a lucky charm verse. This does not mean if you just ask him he’s going to give it. Are you his? Are you bearing fruit? Is there evidence in your life that you are a true follower of Jesus? Then you can be bold in knowing that your prayer requests are going to be in line with his perfect will for your life.
