Brought to you by America’s Christian Credit Union. After my departure, you will always be able to remember these things. One of these days, I’m going to depart from you. You’re going to pick up a newspaper or look on that little black box and it’s going to say Phil Robertson has died.
And some will cry and some will leap of joy. But just remember this. I didn’t pass away. Old Phil just died. The Bible says old Phil just started on his eternal trip. to be with God forever. But his body’s on the earth and we put it in a hole, but he has departed from that. And he his body and soul and spirit. Although the body is now dead, the his soul and spirit live on with God.
I miss Phil Robertson so much. Phil passed away at 79 years old. And how cool that he he made that video. And you know, um I know that right now Phil Robertson is he is fully himself. He is alive and well and he’s in heaven. He was waiting for this day. I mean, we all as believers wait for this day.
It’s the great graduation. It’s it’s the final act of redemption. And yet I found myself just in tears when I got the text that Phil had died because I was just with him a couple of months ago. In fact, um I was there with my son and a friend and with my uh my other son and my daughter’s boyfriend and and had the most incredible time with Phil.
I want to share this story with you. I haven’t shared this with with anybody else. My my daughter’s boyfriend was a huge fan of Phil Robertson and his podcast Unashamed that he does with his sons Jace and Al. And he loved Phil’s ruggedness. I mean, Phil is a he lived off the land. There was just an authenticity about him. He wasn’t religiously pretentious.
His faith was unfiltered. And we went on this duck hunting trip together. And my daughter told me that her boyfriend has really been growing in his faith and and has been discussing baptism. And so I knew Phil loved to baptize people. And so I called Phil’s assistant and asked him, “Is there any chance that Phil would be willing to baptize my daughter’s boyfriend?” And uh we set it up.
