Identity in Christ – Sunday Service
-
for wholeness, opportunity, for prosperity. Let’s if you need an offering envelope, uh, lift your hands up to ushers to get one to you. And I want to show you something out of Philippians chapter 4 and verse 19. In the King James, it says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches and glory by Christ Jesus.
-
” And in the mirror translation, it says, “My God shall also abundantly fill every nook and cranny to overflowing in all areas of your life. The wealth of his dream comes true in Christ Jesus measures his g his generosity towards you. It measures his generosity towards you.” I was thinking this morning uh an individuals might might ask well if if prosperity and all of that and generosity and wholeness has already been finished and it is a finished part of what Jesus has come to do.
-
Then why give? It’s a great question because we give to express gratitude and trust in God and in his care. I give to express. It’s my response to what’s finished. I give to express gratitude and trust in God and in his care. My response to what’s finished is so important. We begin to participate in the finished works of Jesus by responding to those works that have been done.
-
And your prosperity is a finished work. It’s more about relational trust than a transaction. I give because of my relationship that I have with him. I give so that I can uh align myself and it reflects a heart of generosity and it aligns you with what is finished. It aligns you with the generosity of God. Yeah. You have the choice to never give.
-
But God’s just been too good for me to say I trust you, but I don’t participate in that which I say I trust. And what I’m talking about is participating in generosity that’s finished, prosperity that’s finished, wholeness that’s done. See, when you begin to really say, I believe that in God’s care for me, then there’s no fear about giving and sharing.
-
There’s no fear about uh showing up with somebody who’s in need and and being willing to give because I trust that God cares for me. And as I said before, the only people that have a problem giving are those who just fear and do not trust God’s care for them. I believe you’re coming to that place where you’re getting to that place where it’s not even something you think about anymore.
-
It’s just an opportunity for me to stay in alignment what’s already done. I find myself resting in God’s care when I give. And when these opportunities come for me to to give an offering and I release that offering into the bucket, I release that rest that I have in what Jesus has promised. And I declare that I I trust him.
-
I I I continue to think about uh Tru Kathy and Dan Kathy as they were pioneers of helping Chick-fil-A corporation to grow. They wouldn’t compromise Sunday. They said, “We’re going to give that to God and we’re going to close our restaurants.” Why? Because God takes care of us. I believe that should be the attitude of every Christian.
