I love my Relationship with Jesus – Todd White
I cherish intimacy above all else—especially my relationship with Jesus. It’s more precious to me than any other activity, including preaching. If I rely on a crowd to feel confident before God, I’ll end up saying only what people want to hear, rather than the hard truths that can transform hearts. True intimacy with Christ forms the foundation for living in purity and holiness, and that’s more essential now than ever.
In today’s culture, we’re reminded in 1 Timothy 6 that Jesus made the good confession before Pilate. He encourages us to fight the good fight of faith, holding fast to His truth. But to do that, we must be set apart. The world may not understand church language, but that doesn’t mean we should conform to it. We aren’t called to adopt the world’s habits or attitudes. Instead, we’re meant to live differently, standing apart from the line that blurs truth and compromise. Why approach the edge of compromise when you can remain far from it, living a life that reflects the purity and holiness of Christ?
If the world dominates your heart, God’s Word cannot take root. Yet, when the Word fills your heart, the world loses its grip on you. God loved the world so much that He sent His Word—Jesus. As the Word made flesh, Jesus walked among the outcasts, yet remained untainted by the world’s corruption. He declared that the ruler of this world had no claim on Him. That same purity and separation from darkness is what we are called to. True light comes from walking in the light of Jesus, not mixing with the darkness of worldly values.
Jesus was the most holy and pure person to ever live, and He offers us the same close relationship with the Father that He enjoyed. This isn’t blasphemy—it’s what the Bible teaches. As Jesus is, so are we in this world. This means living in a manner that reflects His holiness, His truth, and His love. By doing so, our lives testify to the truth of the Gospel, rather than bending to cultural trends.
Ultimately, we cannot win souls by imitating the world. We are called to stand out—to be so pure in heart that nothing of the world tempts us. In this way, we shine brightly for Christ. Jesus never compromised, even when faced with Pilate’s questions. His life bore no fault, and His testimony remained true. He is the way, the truth, and the life. If the Church sacrifices that truth for cultural acceptance, it loses its connection to the Father. By staying rooted in Christ’s truth, we not only preserve our relationship with the Father but also offer the world a clear and undeniable witness to the Gospel.
