so here is kind of a paradox that if you want the blessings of the the rest and the fullness of God in his Shabbat his Sabbath that means you have to labor to get into it or labor to get there actually we’re going to look at two scriptures actually you have a choice because some of you open up to Hebrews 4 others of you open up to Matthew 13 cuz we’re going to do them right in a row but we’re going to get to one the other Hebrews 4 we’re going to look at tonight what makes a dynamic believer what makes a dynamic walk a dynamic life
in God and what separates a dynamic life from one that is not going to look at two scriptures first that will not seem to be related and yet they will be Hebrews 4:9 therefore there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God for the one who has entered his rest has himself also rested from his works as God did from his let us therefore be diligent to labor to enter that rest lest anyone fall through following the same thing Matthew 13:44 the Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field which a man
found and hid again and from The Joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field again the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls and upon finding one pearl of Great Value he goes and sells all that he has and buys it okay the first scripture let us labor to enter the rest something about that what does it mean we’re to enter God’s rest and yet it says let’s labor to rest it kind of seems like a contradiction to to labor in order to get free from laboring yet the word for Sabbath there
or the word for Sabbath in Hebrew is Shabbat say it of course you know it Shabbat it comes from a Hebrew root word shabat try it shabat is a is a verb it’s something you do it’s not just thing the word sabath comes from something you do or something God did which is to cease he ceased from his labors but that itself is an act so it so here is kind of a paradox that if you want the blessings of the the rest and the fullness of God in his Shabbat his Sabbath that means you have to labor to get into it or labor to get there but
now there are ways that we labor in the wrong way for instance you’re rushing to get to a seminar in the Lord and you’re late and you’re filled with anxiety and you get into your cart and you you’re so zealous for the Lord that you exceed the speed limit to get there and you’re you know not by a lot maybe 30 m an hour on Route 80 and and you’re debating and there’s a stop there’s a stop thing and you kind of stop almost stop but you didn’t quite stop but you know you you had it with the Lord and then there’s a
yellow light and it’s yellow yellow I’m you’re going yellow yes it turns red and you keep going and then you finally you drive Terri you get to you get to the seminar and and and by the way when you have on your bumper stickers you have honk if you love Jesus my boss is a Jewish Carpenter terrible lousy witness and you get there filled with anxiety you get to the seminar cuz you had to get there because the seminar was there called practicing the peace of God that’s we we get we kind of lose what the the purpose is of these things you
