How To Know God’s Will For Your Life

Jonathan Cahn presents a teaching centered on Jeremiah 33:3—”Call to me and I will answer you and I will show you great and mighty things which you know not of”. Cahn asserts that this biblical promise is a direct invitation for believers to move beyond their current understanding and level of blessing, breaking through long-standing limitations to receive supernatural revelation and spiritual breakthroughs.

The key to receiving this promise is recognizing that God has something greater than what you asked or even knew to ask. However, this blessing is conditional, requiring radical humility and action on the part of the believer.

Understanding the Promise: “Mighty Things” (Surro)

Cahn delves into the Hebrew root of the phrase “mighty things” (surro), revealing that it signifies much more than mere greatness. The word literally means things that are:

  • Fenced Off/Fortified: Things that are like a mighty fort or have been protected, possibly by the enemy’s stronghold. God promises to enable the believer to break through that stronghold now and give the blessing to them.
  • Inaccessible/Too High to Attain: Blessings, spiritual levels, or victories that seemed impossible to reach on one’s own. Cahn notes this includes overcoming persistent sin or moving to a higher spiritual level.
  • Cut Off or Withheld: Things that may be God’s will for your life, which you have been praying about, but have been withheld or cut off from manifestation.

God wants to manifest that which has been inaccessible and too high for you to attain.

Understanding the Revelation: “Know Not Of” (Lo Yatam)

The phrase “which you know not of” (lo yatam) means that God will manifest something that has been above what you’ve understood or known at all. Cahn encourages believers to invite the Lord to move beyond the limits of their own prayers and knowledge, seeking what is greater than what they already know.

The Three Conditions for Breakthrough

Receiving these great and mighty things is conditional. God requires specific attitudes and actions:

1. Be in God’s Will (The Foundation)

All of God’s promises are conditioned upon the believer being in God’s will. While no one is perfect, Cahn stresses that you must be actively seeking God more and more to align your life with His will. If you are not in God’s will, you cannot expect His blessing. Seeking the will of God is essential because you cannot get the blessing of God without the will of God, rejecting teachings that suggest you can simply “name and claim” blessings outside of His will.

2. Call to Him (The Action)

The promise explicitly states, “Call to him”. This means truly seeking God more than ever before, inviting Him with all your heart. Believers must make it their aim to seek and encounter the Lord as never before.
