Holy Spirit: Our Mentor

This article summarizes and expands upon key New Testament doctrines concerning the Holy Spirit, emphasizing that pursuing a relationship with Him is critical for every believer to unlock their full God-given destiny and vast inheritance. The Holy Spirit is presented not merely as a presence, but as a brilliant, powerful, and omnipresent mentor who empowers the heirs of God to rule and reign in the current age.

The Holy Spirit: Your Divine Mentor and Paraclete

The Holy Spirit is an equal member of the Godhead. Jesus explicitly referred to the Holy Spirit as “the helper, the comforter, my other self“. This emphasizes the reality and personality of the Holy Spirit, who is a living, eternal Spirit being—not a ghost—and the most intelligent and powerful being on the planet.

The Greek term for the Holy Spirit’s role is Paraclete. This means one who comes alongside to aid, support, advise, comfort, strengthen, and help you. He is your divine mentor, and no one can lead you like Him.

Key Functions of the Holy Spirit in the Believer’s Life:

  1. Super Intercession and Perfect Harmony: The Holy Spirit super intercedes on our behalf when we don’t know how to pray or articulate the best things to ask for. He passionately pleads before God for us, the holy ones, in perfect harmony with God’s plan and our destiny.
  2. Activating Destiny and Potential: The Holy Spirit partners with us to activate our potential and purpose that He, as part of the Godhead, helped put into us before we were ever born. He is essential for us to reach the elements of our destiny in fullness.
  3. Connecting and Harmonizing: He enables supernatural assistance to connect, synergize, and harmonize us with God’s plan for us individually and for the eklesia (the corporate church). Even when we miss our destiny, the Holy Spirit never stops working to connect us to more purpose and future destiny.
  4. Healing and Resetting Life: Holy Spirit-filledness is the only thing that can align our proper identity in fullness. This alignment brings fulfillment, peace, and acceptance, healing our emotions and minds from depression, brokenness, abuse, and suppression. It resets life and continues to reset it if it is broken.

The Revelation of Full Legal Adoption

A core ministry of the Holy Spirit is teaching believers their new identity as full legal heirs of God. Jesus emphasized this truth, stating, “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you”.

Heirs, Not Slaves or Orphans:

The Spirit of Adoption (Holy Spirit) reveals our legal adoption (huiothesia) as God’s own children. This concept is crucial to understanding our inheritance:

  • God’s Heart Decision: God’s decision to adopt us was planned in love and gave Him great pleasure. It was His kind intent to bring us to Himself through Jesus Christ.
  • Full Legal Entitlement: The law was meant to hold people hostage, but Christ redeemed those slaves so that they could receive full legal adoption. As a child, you are no longer a slave but an heir with complete access to the inheritance.
  • Joint Heirs with Christ: We are set free to experience our rightful inheritance. We are God’s very own sons and daughters, and because we are His, we can access everything our Father has. The Holy Spirit helps you access your inheritance.

This identity heals us, giving us a feeling and a knowing of being completely loved, which is critical for emotional and mental well-being.

Destiny, Purpose, and Potential: The Thesis of Your Life

Every single person ever born has a God-given purpose. This purpose is not accidental but was established beforehand (prothesis).

  • Pre-Written Plans: King David wrote that the number of days planned for him were already recorded in God’s book. The Godhead knew all about us and wrote down destiny possibilities, plans, potential, and connections before we ever saw the light of day.
  • Redemption as Launching Pad: Many believers know what they have been saved from but have no idea what they have been saved to. Redemption is the launching forth of life filled with destiny, potential, and living hope, empowering us to live as successful heirs of God on Earth.
  • Pursuing Potential: God made us with free will; therefore, living out our potential is an invitation to pursue. The Holy Spirit understands this potential and wants to help us reach it as we follow Him.
