Fasting Brings Breakthrough | Jentezen Franklin
Fasting is a powerful way to reconnect with God and reset your spiritual focus. Many people don’t realize how far they’ve drifted until they embark on a fast. I promise you, after just a few days, you’ll look back and be amazed at how much you’ve distanced yourself from your spiritual purpose. Your stomach represents your appetites and desires. It speaks of your flesh, the human part of you that either seeks to be controlled by worldly desires or guided by the Spirit.
During this fast, dedicate your hunger to God. Say, “I give you my stomach. I give you my hunger for you.” Blessings come to those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. When you give God your desires, you are saying, “I don’t want anything in my life that isn’t from you. I want to be filled with your Spirit. Empty me so that living water can flow from within me.”
God wants to cleanse you. He wants to remove the trash from your life and renew your desires. Man shall not live by bread alone but by the Word of God. During this fast, allow God to fill you with His purpose, His calling, and His Word. Psalm 106 teaches us that God may give us what we want, but if it’s not in alignment with His will, it can lead to a leanness of soul.
We often get caught up in material things—seeking bigger houses, more possessions—but Jesus reminds us to seek first the kingdom of God, and He will add everything else. It’s not about accumulating things, but about pursuing spiritual fulfillment. Without God, material things only lead to emptiness.
