Don’t give up! – Derek Prince
The Power of Patience and Endurance in God’s Trials
One thing I’ve noticed about God’s trials is that He rarely tells us, “This is a trial, and if you hold out for six months, you’ll be through.” We often reach the five-month and twenty-nine-day mark and give up, not realizing we only have one more day to go. Never give up! There’s no precedent in the Bible for giving up.
God Determines the Duration of Our Trials
God decides how long the test will last, not us. Waiting is one of the trials God often subjects His servants to before He uses them. Take Abraham, for example. God promised him a son who would lead a nation. How long did he have to wait? Twenty-five years.
During that time, his wife Sarah tried to help but only complicated things. She first suggested having a child with Hagar, then later asked Abraham to get rid of the child. That’s the inconsistency of the flesh—telling you to do one thing, only to change it later.
