Listen, being lazy in any area of life is never good. I mean, what we do to cover that up would be vacation, right? Putting our feet up at the beach and maybe on an umbrella. Okay, you can kick back. But Christianity is not designed by God for us to kick back. Heaven awaits us.
But until that time comes, we are to be busy about our father’s business. And so in today’s message, we’re going to jump into three very important truths that the Holy Spirit wants us to have activated in our lives. In Romans 12 11, we’re going to be hearing all about being diligent. That’s an active word, isn’t it? Being diligent.
So important in the believer’s life. In fact, if we do not maintain a diligence at what we’re doing as a believer, we’re going to grow cold and we’re going to become complacent. The next thing is going to be about being fervent in the spirit. And that word fervent is going to mean as we study it, hot, a hot commitment to the Lord Jesus. And then finally, we’re going to see today that we’re to be serving the Lord.
What a great thing. I’m telling you, if you want your Christianity to explode and become very exciting and very active, then you’re going to want to serve the Lord because it’s to his glory and it causes you and I to become more and more of a disciple. So, I’m going to ask you to grab your Bibles and get ready as we dive into this message that we’ve titled, Don’t Be a Lazy Christian.
Because listen, folks, there’s no such thing as a lazy Christian. Not in God’s dictionary. So, we want to be all about our father’s business. We want to make sure that what we’re doing, we’re doing to the glory of God and that we cause ourselves to be so spent, that is, we bring ourselves to the place of needing his power.
So, let’s grab our Bibles and let’s get into it now. We are to be working together as a body of believers. And it’s quite beautiful. I wrote this down. How do you treat others in your life? By the words and the deeds coming out of your life. Notice it’s the words and the deeds that come out of our life. Quite remarkable. I wrote this also to myself as a note on verse or I should say page six.
