Beware of False Prophets – Stephanie Ike Okafor
How to Discern True Prophets from False Prophets: A Biblical Teaching
In the Bible, we are warned about the deception that can arise within the church. As 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 says, “And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” This passage highlights how Satan’s ministers can disguise themselves as apostles of Christ, even though they have not truly given their lives to Jesus. They wear a mask to deceive, emphasizing that these individuals are still agents of Satan.
This teaching is incredibly relevant today, as we navigate a season where there will be a great shaking in the church. People may call this exposure, but it’s not about Satan’s workings being revealed. Rather, it’s about light exposing what was once hidden in darkness. It’s a revelation of the true fruits of individuals, especially in a time when social media and the internet make it easier than ever to connect with ministers. But how do we discern the true character of someone behind the scenes, beyond the pulpit?
Not everything that comes to light is orchestrated by the enemy. While Satan operates in darkness, God uses exposure as an opportunity to reveal the truth. However, it’s important to understand that during this shaking, many may be tempted to turn away from the church entirely, feeling distrustful of the institution. Yet, we are reminded not to forsake the gathering of believers (Hebrews 10:25). The true church, which God is preparing as His bride, is a beautiful thing, and the shaking will help uproot what is impure or contaminated.
