Apostle Paul Secret of How To Fulfill Your Calling

  • The only way you’re going to live be able to live a life of greatness. The ones who stand up, the ones who are hiding Jews in Nazi Germany, they had to say, “We don’t care. We’re not here for survival. We’re here to do the will of God and do what’s right and let God take care of the rest. Seek the kingdom.
  • The rest will follow.” Paul is set to go to Jerusalem and he’s setting his course. means he’s come to the end of the journey because he’s coming home. This is a missionary journey. Paul is the one who pioneered them, the world missionary journeys. Now he’s going home and he’s wrapping up everything. He’s homeward bound.
  • This is called the homestretch. But these had gone ahead and were waiting for us in tring for us. Who’s talking? Luke is talking because Luke was there. It doesn’t always say we, but here it’s saying we. He was there. We sailed away from Philippi. Philippians, after the days of unleavened bread, Passover, and came to them in trrois in five days, we stayed there seven days.
  • Notice how everything’s dated by Jewish holidays. You know, it says because it was time of Passover or it’s going to be the time of Shabu or Pentecost. You know what? It turns out this thing is Jewish. You know, they’re going by that. Everything is by that. They sail, they cross the Aian Sea.
  • As they’re sailing, we’re going to be sailing the Aian Sea. Paul is returning there. So verse 7, on the first day of the week, we came together to break bread. This is the first real clear mention of believers gathering on what we would say the Sunday service. Now, it says they’re gathering to break bread, but this is the first time.
  • Sunday is not the quote Christian Sabbath. There’s only one Sabbath, and that is Friday night to Saturday night. That is the biblical Sabbath. Sunday is the first day of the week. It’s equivalent to our Monday in Israel. The Sabbath’s over. Everybody starts back to work. Well, that’s the day of the resurrection.
  • So, when the first believers, they met on the Sabbath particularly and on the first day of the week as we do as well. Verse 8, but we are to gather together as it says there were many lamps in the upstairs room where we were meeting. And there was sitting on a window a young man named Utkus who was sinking into a deep sleep. For Paul was long in preaching.
  • That’s the implication of Luke. He was going on and on and the guy falls into a deep sleep. Falls out the window and was picked up dead. Paul goes down. Verse 10. Paul goes down, fell upon him, embracing him, said, “Don’t make any commotion. His life is in him. He’s resurrected.” When he’d gotten up, he broke bread and ate and talked with them a long while, even till the break of day. So he departed.
  • And they brought the the lad. He was a youth and they were very comforted. Can you imagine this? This has to be the most embarrassing miracle of the Bible. Imagine being resurrected by the guy you fell asleep on when he was preaching. It’s embarrassing for him. It’s embarrassing for Paul. Verse 13, we went on ahead to the ship and so don’t fall asleep during a message.
  • That’s a warning from the Lord. We went ahead to the ship and sailed for Assos where we were going to take Paul aboard the ship and he made the arrangements cuz he was going there on foot. When he met us there we took him aboard and went to Mitain. Next day we set sail from there arrived at Kios a lot of places here in the Aian area.
