The Love of God
-
You’re watching KCMI TV. Well, I want to talk to you today about something we as believers, we heard so much about. I want to talk to you about um the love of God. And um there are two sides to this. There’s there’s a group of people who um because of the way they’ve lived maybe they uh have found Christ at a later time in life and they’ve lived a real uh horrible life of sin and it’s very difficult for those people to wrap their mind around the idea that an almighty God would love them.
-
And then there’s the other side of the coin, and I guess that I would fall in this category, being raised uh in church and uh never really being in sin. Um we were really kind of taught that the the love of God was based on what we do. And um the the love of God is an extraordinary thing.
-
Uh in Romans chapter 5 and verse 8, it says this, “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” And you can’t die for somebody if you don’t love them. And so uh there I read this yesterday when the Lord was speaking to Israel and uh he he was talking about he said your mother was an Amorite and your father was a Hitittite and he said your cord was not cut and he said you were laying in the ditch and he said I found you um dirty in your own blood and I looked at you and I loved you and I said live Um, the love of God is not based on what you and I do.
-
It’s based on who we are. And Paul talks about a lot about this that we are not saved by works, but we’re saved by faith. But out of everything that God has ever created, all life forms, the only life form that looks like God, that has God’s DNA is you and I. And so our love for God is not based on what he does for us.
-
And this is a this is a tripping point for a lot of people because it’s based on who he is to us. And there there’s lots of people that their love for the Lord vacasillates. it’s strong one day and it’s weak another day because it’s always based on what is God doing for me that okay today God’s really blessed me and I so love the Lord and then they go through a difficult time and they struggle with it and um and I I want to say this there’s I heard this especially being raised in Pentecost that sometimes God gives us cancer and tumor s and

heart problems and diabetes to teach us something that is alive from hell. The only in the first two chapters of the Bible, man was blessed. And in the last two chapters of the Bible, man is blessed because the devil is not neither one of them. God is not the source of your pain. He is the solution for your pain.
-
And the devil is solely responsible for sickness and death and sorrow and disease. And so you got to get your mind around this thing that that my love for God is based on God’s performance. My love for the Lord is not based on what God does. It is based on who God is. And in him, hallelujah, we live, we move, and we have our being.
-
And Romans 5:5 says this about the love of God. It’s released in us. It’s shed in our hearts by the Holy Ghost. And when you receive the Holy Spirit into your life, one of the first things that God does, and man, I’ve seen this. I’ve seen people that were so mean and so lost in sin and come to Jesus Christ and receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
